Words written about David Randall's albums and film scores.
“A heartfelt and beautifully tailored portanteau.” The Daily Telegraph
“Adventurous and spellbinding work that fuses traditional and contemporary, political and poetic.”
Q Magazine ****
“Randall has created a wonderful album that is both stridently polemical and determinedly celebratory”
The Sunday Times
“Bold, brave and idealistic.” Uncut ****
“I could not have made a better choice than working with David Randall to score my documentary film "Rebuilding Hope." He brought not only talent, vision and dedicated hard work to the project, but also his vast experience in international collaboration, on which this project depended. (The film is about Sudan , and Dave brought together a team of three Sudanese musicians to develop vocals and melody.)
The resulting music has given a tremendous boost to the film, adding subtle texture where necessary and high lighting emotional arcs in other places.
It was truly amazing for me to see him take the film, my very scattered notes on what I wanted to see happen musically, and experience how he turned that into a fantastic film score. I am regularly asked after screenings who composed the music and if I have plans to release the soundtrack. I absolutely hope to work with Dave on future film projects.”
